This place has been left a little sparce...

Oh well.

Did well in the semester just gone...

I have a sudden interest in HPVs (of the vehicular variety).

I have a curved soprano sax.

Just gotten back from FOCUS mid-year-conference.

And I still spend too much time procrastinating.

Dominating the pokies

What's the goss? Well. The holiday is almost over. The joys of starting work again on the second...

I've found a foolproof way to win at the pokies! That is my latest excitement. It just involves going around the random machines and using whatever credit has been left on them. I came out of it $2 up, plus a fair few hot chocolates. It makes for a solid profit plus there is that satisfaction that I am screwing the casino. I'm gonna change the world...

That gamble was preceded by an epic game of Risk. I was playing with a bunch of hoarders that were all too nice. None of the old ruthless killing that can potentially characterise the game.

It has been a very quiet week, which I suppose is a good thing.

Update of the north from the south

Two weeks of 13 have come and gone. I've learnt a fair few names. I can find my way around the plant unaided and I've got 3 projects on the go. Hopefuly my first project will be finished early this week - a redesign of a latch. The current design has a few technical issues with the sensor so I'm sorting that out. The second project is working on blast vents on ducts - they leak water, which isn't cool, so I'm trying to source some al foil to weather proof them. Again, a few design difficulties, and nobody wants to provide us with the foil we need. All rather frustrating. My final project is updating the process and instrumentation diagram of the inert gas (Nitrogen) network. That's also almost done. So it's all pretty busy.

Outside of work is all rather quiet and boring. What more needs saying? Some other guys are starting work at Comalco this week, so that should be good to catch up with them. The Comalco factory is right next door to Ecka.

Got my results on Friday and was pleasantly surprised. My best since first year. 3 Distinctions and 1 Credit.

I never heard anything about the letter that I wrote. I'll have to chase it up some time. But I ended up with 74 for thermo, so I was really happy with my mark.

So that's the end of 3rd year engi for me. One year to go.

Let's get serious...

Well, it looks like we're getting all official! I typed up a letter - a full page and a half of complaints, sent it off to all the people in my thermo class (about 20 of us) and hopefully everyone will be able to sign it on Monday after our last exam and then we photocopy it a couple of times and distribute it to all the relevant people: Head of School, another head honcho dude in the school, the professor in question and our other lecturer in the subject. Far more productive than minesweeper! Hopefully something will actually happen - all the lecturers that we've had have been saying that "the school takes complaints like these very seriously". We'll see. The annoying part is that I have no desired outcomes from it - I have no desire to resit an exam, obviously scaling is a possibility - but realistically that should happen in spite of our response.

One more to go.

In other news, I'm wearing my glasses again. I haven't worn them in about 12months. It's kinda strange. I love my contacts. My optometrist should be giving me a call soon...

Ok back to work. Sorry no pretty pictures today, I've already been procrastinating a bit long this morning...

My second last exam

I should have played more minesweeper...

Enough said.
